Kerala's public transport system is dominated by private operators,mostly with scattered owner- ship. Effective controll of the system is made impossible by the individual ownership of most of the vehicles. In all advanced countries public transport system is increasingly brought under social controll to obviate anarchy in providing public trasport service.Domination of private operators has caused hiher tariff rates and absence of travel facilities at all hours.A platform for promoting socially controlled public transport system should be set up.
